The Colour Makers

Pure Pigments are a Traditional Artist's Colourman Mecca

At our traditional shop, we craft eco-friendly pigments from rocks, earth, and industrial waste sourced from the North of Britain. This unique process results in natural colours and paints suitable for all mediums. Mark, the artist who leads our team, is deeply passionate about colour and is constantly exploring new ways to create pigments, including experimenting with historic pigments using alchemy or early chemistry.

Our team is thrilled to offer you a hands-on experience, guiding you through the fascinating process of creating and transforming pigments into paint. This practical learning opportunity is a unique chance to elevate your artistic skills and ignite your creativity.

Mark's journey as an architectural artist took an unexpected turn when a client proposed using leftover stone from a restoration project. This unique opportunity sparked Mark's interest in pigment-making, leading to the creation of the business you are now discovering.
