This experience takes and builds upon the first workshop in the series. We forage for and harvest pigments and learn how to turn soil and sedimentary rocks into pigments. We then take this a lot further.
Embrace the transformative power of fire, the heart of alchemy. The searing heat of flames transmutes raw minerals into deep, lustrous hues, from one colour into another.
While artists were aware that heat changed the colour of some earth pigments, they didn't embrace this technique in Europe until the 15th century. Today, we burnt various ochres and umbers and used these pigments to see how they mix with a modern palette.
Changing base materials such as ochres and umbers into a sublime brilliance in this crucible of creation, reminiscent of the legendary Philosopher’s Stone.
To choose this alchemy experience (2), please go to the shop, select your date and book as these workshops fill quickly and are limited to a maximum of four spaces.
